RDPI Midlife Matters

e-learning: Supporting people during menopause and midlife

This e-learning course is made up of short (c.10-15 minute) videos with Katie and Roger presenting the material, accompanied by slides. It contains all the same elements as the face-to-face full course, but without the peer interactions and live discussions. It covers the possible things that can happen during menopause and at midlife and how to support people as they transition this phase.

The course enables participants to learn about how midlife changes can affect people and particularly about the menopause. It addresses of how things may affect teams, reasonable adjustments, the legal situation, how to have appropriate and meaningful conversations, and how to create a supportive environment.

Sections of the e-learning course:
  1. Welcome and introduction
  2. Positioning the menopause
  3. Male midlife and wellbeing
  4. Ethical, legal and business case
  5. Katie's experience as an example from 'real life'
  6. Opening the conversation
  7. What can we do? (reasonable adjustments and what they are)
  8. Actions and resources
  9. How did I do? (self-assessment, multiple-choice questionnaire)
Each person initially receives a personalised e-mail with a welcome message and instructions for logging in (each person has a unique login).

After completing the course (including the self-assessment), each person receives a personalised Completion Certificate, personalised PDF Course Handbook and personalised Manager's Toolkit

From the organisation's point of view, we can provide information to evidence that individuals have completed the training for reporting purposes to comply with legislation.
